Panuya’. During the reign of British, ‘fol panuya’ was recognized as Cox’s Bazar after
the name of ‘Hiram Cox’. Cox’s Bazar is 450
km far away from Dhaka City and 96 km from Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar is well

long sandy beach that stretches from the mouth of the Bakkhali River going all

the world. About 120 km Cox’s Bazar beach is one of the great natural wonder of
the world. Cox’s Bazar beach Chittegong is filled with natural sand of the sea
beach. The foam of blue sea enchants the tourists and visitors. In day light,
there produce sparkling sand. When the light of the sun fall down to the sand,
it looks like the sand is not sand. As if they were pearl! The sands are
burning bright from taking the light of sun.
The cycle of sun shine, sea water
and sandy beach ruled on the creation of the world. This cycle is vast here in
the Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach.
There is proper scope to rest inside the garden and you can easily verbalize
your own thought to your soul mates. You may bow down your hate to the Almighty
God who created this kind of limitless beauty. When the sea birds fly on the
sky, you may eagerly want to be a bird to fly with them. The wind come from the
sea will soothe your tiresome soul. You may forget the problematic city life
and your personal problem also. Here in Cox’s Bazar natures sit for
you with the immensity of natural beauty. It is obvious that your mind will
full of pleasure while going Cox’s Bazar sea beach. Here
sky and sea intermingled together as if they mix together in a row! As if the
sky is bend over the sea and sea try to grasp the sky. The sun rise and sun set
on the sandy beach is particularly a matter of specialty. When the sun rise
from the eastern side of the sea, it looks like a fiery round shape globe is
coming from the sea. And when the sun set on the west there create an
environment of heavenly beauty. As if the fiery round globe is calm down in the
sea water. What do I say about the moonlit night in the sea beach? Soft and
adorable light of moon will embrace you with its beauty and magnetizing power.
Things you can do:
Walk
on the worlds longest sea beach
Take a walk!! Take a walk along with
the sea. Enjoy the wave and the wind. Enjoy the sandy beach. Take a deep breath
- you can smell the sea. You can smell the freshness and feel the universal
peace deep inside your mind. If you are physically fit, I will suggest to walk
at least from Laboni beach to Kolatali point (#3 beach). Morning is the best
time to walk along the beach because at morning, the sea will have low tide. So
water goes far and beach is clean. But you will have less waves. But at the
afternoon-evening, that is high tidal time, water comes closer, waves are high.
You can enjoy both the beauty according to your choice.
Enjoy
the sunset at the beach
Sun is the power house of the solar
planet. At the evening, sun disaapears in such a manner that it drowning into
deep blue sea with all of its power. Its taking out all of your pain and
leaving a calm and quite night for you. You can enjoy sunset and forget all of
your pain and sadness in a wink of eye. You can enjoy the evening at the
beach as long as you want, enjoy the fresh air, enjoy the sky full of stars. If
you have a moonlit night at cox's bazar beach, your are a lucky man. Feel it!
Take
a sunbath
At any given sunny day, I am sure
your most desirable things to do at cox’s bazar is to take a sun bath. Give
your body and mind a treat of tranquility at the water of blue ocean. You can
plunge into water, take a little swim and play with your mates. There are many
other activities such as riding speed boat, riding water bike, floating with a
tire etc, you can treat yourself with these things at the time of your bath.
But remember, don’t go deep if you do not know how to swim. And do not plan to
drink the water of the sea. It tastes awful.
Ride
a speed boat
At the day time, you can ride speed
boat and surf into the sea beach. There are many speed boat rides available in
sharing basis and it costs about Tk 100 per person per ride. You can play with
the wave through the speed boat ride. Although this ride lasts for very small
duration, its pretty enjoyable with friends and family.
Enjoy
surfing at the 120 Km long beach at summer
Surfing is a very challenging and
enjoyable sports, and newly inaugurated in Bangladesh. There is a club named
Cox’s Bazar Life Saving and Surf Club who arrange all the instruments and
instructions for surf lovers. You can locate them at Laboni beach.
Enjoy
a ride with water bike
Are you scared? Prove that you are
not scared by taking a ride with water bike at the beach. It runs in a great
speed and above the wave. A ride of water bike will take Tk 150 - Tk 200 per
head. Don’t worry, they don’t go very deep. And life savers are always there.
Visit
the light house
Cox’s bazar light house signals for
all ships floating around Cox’s bazar bay. Its on the top of the hill of cox’s
bazar. You can go to visit there. But you will need to climb a hill for that.
But you can enjoy at a glance view of Cox’s bazar city and panorama of the sea
beach. Magnificent place for photographers with well equipped photographic
gears.
Go
shopping
Are you a shoppoholic? There are a
lot of enjoyment for you as well at the worlds longest sea beach. You can
collect souvenir of various type of oyster-made ornaments for women, you can
shop for beach shorts and shirts, hats, and other gears. You can go to Cox’s
bazar market named Burmese market. You can shop for tribal clothes, pickles,
sandals and most of everything - dry fish. Cox’s bazar is a heaven for dry
fish. You can purchase theme from both burmese market and market near #2 beach.
You can purchase a great variety of dry fish from cox’s bazar.

Climate and What time to go
Climate
The climate in Bangladesh is theatrical,
to say the least. It is subtropical and steamy with temperatures ranging from
as low as 3ºC overnight in the cold season to a daytime top of above 40ºC in
the hot season. Annual rainfall varies from 1000mm in the west to 2500mm in the
southeast, and up to 5000mm in the north, near the hills of Assam.
Three-quarters of the annual
rainfall occurs between June and September. The 90% to 95% humidity in this
season is almost unbearable.
In the cold season the weather is
drier and fresh, with average daytime temperatures of 24ºC. rainwater is
negligible, although even in winter a brief shower may come along.
While early March can still be
pleasant, by April, as the monsoon approaches, humidity increases and lethal
hailstorms aren’t uncommon. The monsoon season usually starts between late May
and mid-June. It doesn’t rain solidly all day – there tends to be an initial heavy
shower, followed by clear skies. You should avoid visiting at this time of
year!
See also When to Go.
What
time to go
Bangladesh has three main seasons:
the monsoonal season (wet season) from late May to early October; the cool
season from mid-October to the end of February; and the hot season from March
to mid-May.
Between October and February is the
best time to go: skies are blue, days are sunny and the weather is dry, with
daytime temperatures averaging 24ºC. By April the temperature rises to around
40ºC, the humidity can be intolerable and hailstorms aren’t uncommon. On
average, Bangladesh is hit by one major cyclone every three years. The worst
times for these are May and June, and October and November.
The only festival that may really
inconvenience you is Ramadan. During this month-long period of fasting, getting
food (especially in small towns) can be difficult. Some budget hotels stop
operating altogether.

Bangladesh
Whether it’s at the attractive
and still beaches of places like coxs' bazaar that stretch on forever, or a ship
journey through the windy, curving backwater of a Bangladeshi river, with its
ancient towns and villages some dating back more than 2000 years, and past
maharajas palaces of the previous centuries . It'll be an experience that will undoubtedly
find a place which will provide you with the unforgetable trip of a lifetime.
Prior to the time of
Bangladeshs' liberation in 1971, most tourists kept their visits to, Dhaka and
Agrabad, however with limited satisfactory accomodation in the rest of
Bangladesh at that time, saw neighbouring Kolkata in West Bengal, who were well
ahead with their facilities, soar in popularity. It took until the middle of
the nineteen nineties for the improvement in accomodation started to show
increased numbers of tourist flow.
Tourism alive and Well in
Bangladesh.
Since the year 2000 tourists
arriving in Bangladesh have been swelling in numbers. Also travelling further
within the country and visiting places like Cox' Bazaar, Teknaf, the
Sundarbans, Kuakata, Paharpur and Tetulia. Not only is it international
visitors but locals are also taking their holidays and coming to Dhaka, Khulna and
Chittgong. All these travelers require appropriate accommodation and the demand
in hotel beds and restaurants are now being met for every taste and every
budget. Many of the visitors are expariate Bangladeshi coming to Bangladesh not
only to visit their families, but for a holiday and to experience the vibrant
and culturally rich country of their forebearers. Catering for all these people
have seen an increase in the demand for new hotels and restaurants in Dhaka and
other tourist locations.
The
language of Bangladesh is Bengali (Bangla). Bengali
is an Indo-Aryan language it evolved from Sanskrit. Sanskrit being one of the
oldest languages documented in the world. Bengali writing is a cursive script
like other Indian scripts, originating from the Brahmi alphabet of the Asokan
inscriptions. It contains 52 consonants and 12 vowels. English is also spoken
in many places.
Traveling
to Bangladesh
is quite affordable through Air India, especially when using an online service
that offers cheap flights. In addition traveling through Bangladesh is cheap as
well. Tipping is encouraged in most restaurants frequented by foreigners,
expect around 5%. It's how much of the staff make their wage, so please be
thoughtful in this regard as some tourists can be a little stingy, being used
to their own countries. "Baksheesh" is Bangla for tipping. When
purchasing a souvenir, you'll find the people skilled in the art of bargaining.
This is also custom, remember have fun with it even though you might feel a
little frustrated. Just start at around half of what the asking price is and go
from there. Walk away if you feel the price is too high, there are many other
sellers nearby. Just be aware of the restrictions of your own country and
conscience when making a purchase. There are some industries that you you
shouldn't encourage in any country.
Health
Health issues in Bangladesh like in most poorer countries of the world are not
too good, once you are out of the major centres. It's always best to carry with
you your personal items and if you are engaging in a higher than normal risk
sport, take a first aid kit with sterile syringes. The lists of communicable
and potentially deadly diseases is long, and some countries fail to give
accurate accounts of the afflicted for fear of loss of tourism revenue.

The 13th and 15th Century
From the 13th century A.D. the Buddhists and Hindus were swamped by the flood of Muslim conquerors and the tide of Islam up to 18th century. Sometimes there were independent rulers like the Hussain Shahi and Ilyas Shahi dynasties, while at other times they ruled on behalf of the Imperial seat of Delhi. From the 15th century, the Europeans, namely Portuguese, Dutch, French and British traders exerted an economic influence over the region. British political rule over the region began in 1757 A.D., when the last Muslim ruler of Bengal was defeated at Palassey. In 1947 the subcontinent was partitioned into India and Pakistan. Present Bangladesh became the Eastern Wing of the then Pakistan. But the movement for autonomy of East Pakistan started within a couple of years because of language and cultural differences and economic disparity between the two wings. The Language Movement The Language Movement of 1952 to recognize Bangla as a state language may be termed as the first step towards independence. Political and economic deprivation of the Bengalees prompted Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, to put forward in 1966 his historic six points, the "Magna Carta" which in effect structured the foundation for East Pakistan's future independence. The War of Liberation In the 1970 elections, even though the Awami League emerged as the largest party in Pakistan Parliament, it was not allowed to form the government by the ruling military junta. In the backdrop of a non-cooperation movement launched against the military regime by Awami League. Bangabandhu declared at a historic public meeting held at Ramna Race Course (renamed Suhrawardy Uddyan) on 7 March, 1971, attended by around 2 million people, "The struggle this tune is the struggle for freedom, the struggle this tune is the struggle for independence." It was a defacto declaration of independence. Thus in a preplanned manner on 25th March 1971. The Pakistan army embarked on what may be termed as history's worst genocide. A military crackdown was ordered, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib was arrested and taken away to West Pakistan. But just before he was arrested he sent out a call for the liberation war to begin. Known as the Declaration of (lie War of Independence, this hurriedly written historic document read as follows: "Pak Army suddenly attacked EPR Base at Pilkhana, Rajarbagh Police Line and killing citizens. Street battles are going on in every street of Dacca. Chittagong. I appeal to the nations of the world for help. Our freedom fighters are gallantly fighting with the enemies to free the motherland. I appeal and order you all in the name of Almighty Allah to fight to the last drop of blood to liberate the country. Ask Police, EPR, Bengal Regiment and Ansar to stand by you and to fight. No compromise. Victory is ours. Drive out the enemies from the holy soil of motherland. Convey this message to all Awami League leaders, workers and other patriots and lovers of freedom. May Allah bless you. Joy Bangla". Independence After nine months of war, the Pakistani occupation forces surrendered in Dhaka on 16th December. 1971 after killing an estimated three million people. Due to the heroic resistance and supreme sacrifices of the valiant freedom fighters Bangladesh finally became an independent sovereign state. Father of the Nation Bangahandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the founder- president of Bangladesh. He was subsequently assassinated on 15th August, 1975 by a group of conspirators. |
